GOD'S WORD

3 "And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy

fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,"

4 "That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor

 ceased! the golden city ceased!"

-  Isaiah 14:3-4 KJV

- May We All Be Counted Worthy to Enter into His Golden City -
December 10, 2023

My Brothers and Sisters, I want to tell you a story. A story of a great city. A city of gold and precious gems. A city of promise and of hope.

I remember back when I was a young teenager, I had picked up magazine all about the beautiful City of  New York.  Reading and seeing the pictures of this great land, and it made me want to visit the great City of New York, one day. I could picture the city lights glowing against the night sky like a shining beacon of hope.

But what I didn’t know at the time was that this great city was nothing compared to the one that God has in store for us. God’s golden city is a place of eternal joy, a place of perfect peace, and a place of ultimate fulfillment. As the Bible says in Revelation 21:18-21: “The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.”

God’s golden city is more than a place – it is an experience that will last for eternity. It is a place where all of our longings will be fulfilled and all of our deepest desires will be realized. It is a place where God will make all things new. It is a place where we will no longer feel pain or sorrow, but only joy and peace.

So how do we get to this golden city? The answer is simple – faith. As Hebrews 11:8-10 says: “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place which he was to receive as an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he sojourned in the promised land as in a foreign country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he looked forward to the city which has foundations whose builder and maker is God.”

By faith, we can trust that God will lead us to this glorious destination. We must have faith that God will provide us with everything we need to get there. We must have faith that His promises are true and that He will never leave us or forsake us. We must have faith that our journey will be filled with joy and peace along the way.

My Beloved Brothers and Sisters, God’s golden city awaits us - but only if we have faith that He will lead us there. Remember that faith is the key to unlocking all of God’s promises and unlocking the gates of His glorious city. So let us have faith in God and His plan for our lives - for He has prepared a mansion in heaven for us - a golden city that awaits us!

God's golden city is a place of eternal joy and peace, where we will be reunited with our loved ones and live in the presence of our Lord and Savior. It is a place where there is no pain, no sorrow, and no tears. It is a place where we will be surrounded by the glory of God and experience His love in its fullness. So let us hold fast to our faith and trust in God’s promises, for He is faithful and true. May we all be counted worthy to enter into His golden city and dwell with Him forevermore. Amen.

May Brigid bless the house where in you dwell.

Bless every fireside every wall and door.

Bless every heart that beats beneath its roof.

Bless every hand that toils to bring it joy.

Bless every foot that walks its portals through.

May Brigid bless the house that shelters you."

In the name of our Savor

Jesus Christ, Amen
