GOD'S WORD

3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,

4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety

and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

- Luke 15:3-4 KJV

 God's Lost Sheep

Reverend Danny Rhoades

Good morning Brothers and Sisters, let me tell you about a man who went out for a walk on a sunny day and came across a lost sheep. It had wandered away from its flock and was in danger of getting lost in the woods. The man couldn't just leave it there, so he picked it up in his arms and brought it back to the flock.

The same thing happens in our spiritual lives. We often wander away from the Lord and get lost, unable to find our way back home. But God never stops looking for us. He is always searching for his lost sheep, just like He did with the prophet Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 34:11-12, God says: "For thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I even I, myself will search for my sheep and will seek them

out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness."

God knows every single one of us by name. He knows our struggles, our pain, and our doubts. And He is always searching for us, even when we feel too far away.``

This means that no matter how lost we feel, God can still find us. He can still bring us back to the flock. He can still show us the way home.

This also means that we don't have to be afraid of being lost. We can trust that God will never give up on us. He will never stop looking for us and he will never stop loving us.

The best way to stay close to God is by living a life of faith and obedience. As it says in Deuteronomy 28:1-2: "If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth."

When we stay close to God, He will stay close to us. When we live a life of faith and obedience, He will never leave us or forsake us.

So Brothers and Sisters, don't be afraid of getting lost. Don't be afraid of making mistakes or straying away from the Lord. God is always there for us, and He will never stop looking for His lost sheep.

Let's end with this thought: if God can find a lost sheep in the wilderness, He can find you too - no matter how far away you feel.

You have made us; we are Your people, the sheep of Your pasture. For the times we wander from Your leadership, forgive us. For the times we lead others astray, pursue us with Your grace. No matter where we wander, seek us out.

Help us to see the sheep who are clothed in grace and the sheep who are jumping at shadows, the sheep who hunger for the kingdom and the sheep who remember to leap in joy. Remind us that there is no wrong kind of sheep, and that we, each and every one of us, belong to the shepherd.  I pray this in the name of our Lord and Savor Jesus Christ
