God's Word

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 6:17

"Don't let fear keep you from bearing fruit.

October 24, 2023

Good morning, Brothers and Sisters! Today I want to talk to you about the Parable of the Fig Tree. Have you ever gone to pick apples in the fall? You know that feeling when you find the perfect tree and you find the perfect apple? You feel so excited and thankful. You can’t help but feel so blessed.

This is how I imagine God feels when He looks out over His children when He sees us living our lives in ways that He has called us to live. When He looks at us and sees us

bearing the fruits of his spirit in our lives, He must be so proud.

This is what Jesus was trying to communicate to us in the Parable of the Fig Tree. He said, “Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:” (Mark 13:28). In other words, when you see a fig tree putting forth new leaves, you know that summer is coming.

The same is true for us. When we put forth the leaves of God's Word and bear the fruits of His spirit in our lives, we can be sure that summer is near. We can be sure that God's blessings are coming our way. We don't have to worry about what tomorrow will bring. We don't have to be anxious or fearful. We can trust in God's promises and be confident that He will provide for us.

In Luke 21:29, Jesus says, “And he Spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.” It's not just the fig tree that reminds us of God's promises and His impending blessings. All of nature proclaims it. When we see the trees blossoming, when we see the flowers blooming, and when we hear the birds singing, we know that summer is near.

We know that God's blessings are coming our way. We don't have to worry or be anxious. We can trust in God's promises and be confident that He will provide for us.

So, my friends, let us take a lesson from the fig tree. Let us put forth the leaves of God's Word and bear the fruits of His spirit in our lives. Let us trust in His promises and be confident that He will provide for us. Let us have faith that summer is coming and God's blessings are on their way.

My friends, don't let fear keep you from bearing fruit. Instead, let faith be your guide and you will find yourself in a summer of blessings.
